Con season is over...for me anyway

Hey all, thanks for stickin' in there and keeping up with this handy blog. Quite a bit has happened over this last summer.

First off I have to take a moment and say how shocking and heart breaking it was to hear that Mike Weiringo has passed away this last week. (Aug. 12th) He was 44 years old, and died of a heart attack.

There is alot of news on various comic news sites that include memorial posts and ways to contribute to his family.

I must say, I had only known Mike for the last three years. We were mearly aquantances, though he was quite friendly, and quick to laugh. Randy Green introduced me at a Heroes con in Charlotte. We met and talked alittle about the possibilty of me helping with his backgrounds. That never came about, but it gave me the chance to be introduced to him, and feel comfortable talking to him (which was never hard). Through his influence on the comic industry alone, he will be sorely missed. I know God has a plan for us, and I have faith that Mike is in good hands.

During this con season I was able to attend, Heroes in Charlotte and the Wizard World Chicago show.

Both were alot of fun to do, though very different in nature. At Heroes it is smaller, and more emphasized on the artists and comic dealers. At Chicago the emphasis includes the larger publishers (like, Marvel and DC) but also have attracted more odds and ends entertainment venues. (like the IFL, or international fight league)

At Chicago this year I set up in Artist's Alley to not only sell artwork and do sketches, but also to promote my new project titled Elders of the Runestone. We debuted a preview book there at the show.

The preview book includes an 11 page preview of Runestone, aswell as behind the scenes info and character designs for the property. It was an absolute success, we sold out of the books we brought and made a lot of good contacts with potential publishers for the property.

Be sure to check out the new website: http://www.runestonecomic.com/

for new updates and preview art!!

Here are the images we used for the banners at the show. Penciled and inked by me, colors by Bob Pedroza.
