Harry Potter!!
I've been a fan of the Harry Potter books and movies all along, but haven't had the chance to draw anything from it. This was a commission im currently working on. I'm working on the inks now, but should have that done soon. Its been fun, and actually Im listening to the books on tape anyway, so I was already in the mood. I found Voldemort came easily, but Harry was another story. Ive never been particularly fond of the way he looked in the art associated with the books. And though I enjoy the cast of the movies, I didnt want to do a likeness for the piece. The hardest part was getting across his age here. This is his 4th year, so he should be 15 I believe. (Someone correct me if Im wrong). In drawing though that is an incredibly difficult age to get down. You dont want them to look too old or adult, but you dont want them to be too young as a pre-teen. Anyway, it was fun, and I thought I would share!

These were a couple bookend pieces for a guy. They were originally supposed to be finished at Heroes con, but like usual I didn't get to all my sketches that convention. I took the Snake-Eyes one home, and actually finished it at the Chicago Con while I was waiting for sketches the first day. I was able to spend more time on it than most con sketches. The Storm Shadow was for the same guy, but I finished that on the plane from Chicago to Buffalo. I went from one convention then flew out immediately on Sat. night to New York for a signing of the marvel book I had just finished.

Another con sketch

Its always fun when you are working on a book or project, then go to the conventions and get sketch requests. Ive been associated with GI JOE for a couple years now on and off, and I usually get a slew of GI JOE requests. i.e. SnakeEyes, and Storm Shadow. This year a had a few Baroness sketches, and it was a blast, because I hadnt had the oppurtunity to draw the Baroness in the books. I had inked a few Tim Seeley covers with her on them, but not actually drawn them in the pages.
So this was a fun treat. Enjoy!
